Cobalt Energy have been awarded a contract to carry out multi-scope site assessments on an 11 site portfolio owned and managed by John Laing Capital Management. The site assessment scope consists of HV equipment inspections, string combiner box inspections, hand-held IR checks, string testing and micro-crack investigations using our new UV approach. Five out of the 11 site assessments have been completed with the remaining planned for the summer months.
Utilising the MBJ Smart UV light, the Cobalt Energy team can survey between 500kW – 1MW per night shift, identifying a range of cell and module defects. This method is perfect for screening the general condition of solar farms and is a great tool to use to find defective modules for further EL & Flash testing. Some interesting findings in tough winter conditions…
Cobalt Energy in partnership with MBJ Service GmbH plan to launch the sale of this Smart UV light in the spring after the trial period completion. This will enable owners, asset managers, EPC’s and O&M service providers to find defects in the field themselves.
